US is not ready to pull military forces out of efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, says President Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he’s not ready to pull American military forces out of efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz, despite rising tensions with Iran.

In an interview to a news channel, Trump expressed frustration with international allies, saying they need to step up and take more responsibility for protecting the crucial shipping route.

Trump also pointed to a lack of military support from countries like the United Kingdom in the ongoing U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran. Despite persistent Iranian strikes on shipping and regional infrastructure, Trump maintained that “there’s no real threat” in the Strait of Hormuz.

He argued that nations relying on oil shipments through the region should take a more active role in keeping those routes secure.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil passages, handling about 20 percent of global supply.
