US and Qatar hold talks on ongoing negotiations with Iran over West Asia conflict

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff held a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Miami yesterday to discuss ongoing negotiations between US and Iran over West Asia conflict.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ongoing efforts to reach a deal with Iran. The meeting followed Al-Thani’s discussions with US Vice President JD Vance in Washington the previous day.

Earlier, the first round of talks between US and Iran held in Islamabad, Pakistan failed to yield any results, and the second round of talks never took place, even after the buzz generated by Pakistan.

On the other hand, Qatar has been working quietly behind the scenes in order to mediate with US officials describing the Qataris as “especially effective in negotiations with Iran”.
