In Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath cabinet today approved the constitution of an OBC commission. The commission’s recommendations are a Supreme Court prerequisite for implementing backwards-class quotas in Panchayat elections. Two major metro proposals were also given approval at the cabinet meeting.
The government approved the transfer of land required for station construction and elevated sections under the second corridor of the Agra metro and also cleared a tripartite memorandum of understanding among the Centre, the state government, and the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation for the Charbagh to Vasant Kunj east-west corridor, estimated at approximately rupees 5,801 crore.
The Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today also cleared metro expansions in Agra and Lucknow, a 2,799 crore rupees power grid upgrade in Mirzapur and an 855 crore rupees hospital complex at RML. The Cabinet also cleared the issuance of a letter of intent for setting up Sardar Patel Apex University in Samaspur village, Chunar tehsil, Mirzapur district. An increase in the training allowance for veterinary students was also approved to support skilled manpower development in the sector.
