In Uttar Pradesh, the first phase of Census 2027, focused on house listing, will begin on 22nd of this month. A self-enumeration facility will be available from 7th of May. During a press conference in Lucknow, State Director of Census Operations and Chief Principal Census Officer, Sheetal Verma, said, citizens can take part through the self-enumeration facility by registering on the official website from 7th of this month.
After completing the process, they will receive a unique code, which must be shared with the enumerator during the home visit. Ms Verma said, Uttar Pradesh will conduct the first phase of Census 2027, focused on house listing, from 22nd of May to 20th of June. She said, all preparations for the house listing phase have been completed. She added that for smooth data collection, the state has been divided into nearly three lakh ninety thousand enumeration blocks, with enumerators visiting each area to collect information.
The second phase will involve individual enumeration, during which data will be collected from every person – whether living in households, institutions, or without shelter. This phase will capture details such as religion, caste, literacy, and other personal characteristics.
