The government has sanctioned and released the Fifteenth Finance Commission Untied Grants of over five hundred ninety-two crore rupees to Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies in Maharashtra and Goa, during the Financial Year (FY) 2025-26. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj said that the Untied Grants will be utilised by Panchayati Raj Institutions and Rural Local Bodies for location-specific felt needs. Under this tranche, the withheld portion of the 1st instalment for Maharashtra in the Untied Grants for FY 2024-25, amounting to around 79 crore rupees, has been released. The Ministry said that the grants have been sanctioned for 12 eligible District Panchayats, 125 eligible Block Panchayats and 27 eligible Gram Panchayats. While the 1st instalment of Untied Grants for FY 2024-25 of over 12 crore rupees has been released for Goa, covering 2 eligible District Panchayats and all 191 eligible Gram Panchayats in the State. The Tied Grants can be used for the basic services, including sanitation and maintenance of ODF status, supply of drinking water, rainwater harvesting and water recycling.
