Unseasonal Rains, Hailstorms Damage Crops Across Maharashtra

Unseasonal rains, hailstorms, and strong winds have caused widespread crop damage across several districts of Maharashtra, leading to heavy losses for farmers. In Washim, turmeric laid out for drying and onion seed crops ready for harvest have been severely affected, raising concerns over quality and market prices.

Beed district has witnessed continuous rainfall for the past three days, damaging crops and homes, uprooting trees, and swelling rivers like the Sindphana. Jalna and Amravati districts also reported damage to standing crops due to rain and thunderstorms. In Nandurbar, crops across 833 hectares have been affected, with produce such as jowar, maize, wheat, fruits, and vegetables suffering major losses.

State Marketing Minister Jaykumar Rawal assured that the government stands firmly with affected farmers. During visits to villages in Dhule district, he directed officials to carry out prompt and transparent damage assessments to ensure timely assistance reaches all those impacted.
