Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a Unity Walk was organised in Puducherry today by Mera Yuva Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K. Kailasanathan flagged off the rally near Swadeshi Mill and joined students in the four-kilometre walk. Puducherry Legislative Assembly Speaker R. Selvam, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, along with several dignitaries also participated.
Over fifteen hundred school and college students took part in the rally, which featured traditional cultural performances. The Unity Walk concluded at Gandhi Thidal on the Beach Road.
