Union Textiles Secretary, Neelam Shami Rao, has said the Shilp Didi Programme of the government helped women entrepreneurs to increase their income. She noted that some Shilp Didis have crossed their income more than 5 lakh rupees.

Talking to the media at the National Handicrafts and Heritage Week in New Delhi, the Secretary said, through this initiative, the government is providing a platform to women artisans of the country to make them financially independent. She also informed that the Ministry is working with various clusters of such artisans through the National Handicrafts Development Program to train them about designing, marketing and sales.
