Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that small and modular nuclear reactors offer feasible and practical solutions to meet the huge energy demand of data centres.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi, the Minister said, with the passage of the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill, the country is now fully prepared to power the emerging AI-based economy.
Highlighting innovations in the sector, the Minister said, new designs enable the setting up of nuclear power plants on 14 acres of land. He said that nuclear power plants can be used for railway operations as well.
The SHANTI Bill received assent from President Droupadi Murmu last month following its passage by Parliament during the Winter Session.
