Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today highlighted that Prasar Bharati’s WAVES platform has received widespread global appreciation and has facilitated international business worth five thousand crore rupees. Mr Vaishnaw said this during the launch of a new platform, Creator’s Corner on DD News, to empower content creators. He said the new initiative of Prasar Bharati aims to showcase and promote creative content. The Minister said that the Government has set a target to connect one crore youth to the creator’s economy.

 

Mr. Vaishnaw said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced many major reforms over the past 11 years. He also announced that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will undergo a complete restructuring this year, including the development of a new operating system.

 

The Minister stated that the Information and Broadcasting sector impacts the lives of every citizen in the country, making it essential to introduce reforms that restore the prominence of broadcasting while aligning it with today’s technology, generation, and working methods. Mr. Vaishnaw further said that the reforms are expected to generate new employment opportunities. 

 

On the occasion, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan congratulated DD for the initiative. He said that the new platform will support the content creators and help in the expansion of the country’s orange economy.

 

Creator’s Corner will be broadcast from Monday to Friday at 7 pm on DD News. The new initiative will provide content creators a national platform to share their content. Creators can submit 10-minute High Definition content across various themes, including news, culture, travel, health, education, environment and entertainment.
