Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar Alleges Relief Mismanagement in North Bengal Floods

Union Minister of State Education and DoNER Dr Sukanta Majumdar today alleged that there was mismanagement in distributing relief materials in the flood affected areas of north Bengal. Today he visited the flood affected areas of north Bengal. He alleged that Block Development Officers (BDOs) are not handing over relief materials to the BJP administered panchayet leaders. 
 
 
The death toll related to rain related incidents on the intervening night of 4th and 5th October in the four districts of north Bengal reached to 31. Darjeeling Jalpaiguri Alipurduar Kalimpong districts were affected in a extremely heavy downpour on that night which caused landslides and inundation of vast lands including reserved forests.
The Alipore Weather office in Kolkata forecast scattered light to moderate rainfall for two to three days over the districts of south Bengal in West Bengal.
 
 
Thundershower with gusty wind predicted in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Malda, North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur districts of north Bengal in the next 24 hours. IMD also informed another’s cyclonic circulation may form in the north Bay of Bengal by 10th of this month.
