Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Viksit Bharat G RAM G Bill is the next step forward of MGNREGA, in favour of development and the poor. In a social media post, the Minister said that Bill guarantees 125 days of wage employment to adult members of rural households, up from the 100-day period under the previous scheme. Mr Chouhan informed that the Bill also has provisions for unemployment allowance, in case no work is allocated, and additional amounts, when wages are delayed. He mentioned that it also has provisions for farmers who face difficulties during the agricultural period. The Minister added that more than 1.51 lakh crore rupees have been proposed for the Bill. Mr Chouhan said that the Bill has an increased share for administrative expenses, from 6 percent to 9 percent, to provide timely and adequate salaries to panchayat secretaries, employment assistants, and technical staff.
Exuding confidence in the Bill, he said that it will help to develop villages, making them self-reliant and poverty-free, by taking up works for water conservation, infrastructure in villages, livelihood activities, and protection from natural disasters. The Minister added that the Bill fulfils the resolve of developed villages for the construction of a developed India.
