Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan has termed the recently enacted Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act as a historic initiative aimed at advancing the welfare of farmers and workers. The Minister said this during his virtual interaction with farmers across the country on the occasion of National Farmers’ Day.
During this, Mr Chouhan asserted that strong provisions have been incorporated in the Act for the welfare of the farmers and workers. He said the new Act has further strengthened the previously implemented Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, MGNREGA.
The Viksit Bharat G RAM G Act will ensure athe vailability of farm labour during peak agricultural seasons. During the interaction, Mr Chouhan highlighted that the number of wage employment days has been increased to one hundred and twenty-five days, from earlier one hundred days. He informed that this year, an amount of over one lakh 51 thousand crore rupees has been proposed under it.
