Union Minister Shivraj Chouhan says Govt introduced ‘Viksit Bharat-G Ram G’ law to address shortcomings in MGNREGA

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has said that the Central Government has introduced a new law, ‘Viksit Bharat-G Ram G’, to address various shortcomings and irregularities in the MGNREGA scheme.

Addressing the State-Level Kisan Diwas-2025 programme at Gauchar in Uttarakhand, Mr Chouhan said that while MGNREGA earlier provided for 100 days of employment, the new law has increased this to 125 days.

The Union Agriculture Minister said that the horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries sectors will be expanded in Uttarakhand. He added that fruits, vegetables and medicinal herbs produced in the state will be connected to national and international markets to enhance farmers’ income.

He further informed that a Clean Plant Centre will be established at Mukteshwar at a cost of 100 crore rupees to provide high-quality fruit-bearing plants to farmers.

Earlier, Mr Chouhan interacted with farmers from various districts of Uttarakhand and visited the stalls set up by them at the venue.
