The Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed satisfaction over the progress of Rabi sowing. The Minister reviewed the status of Rabi crop sowing and the price situation of key agricultural commodities at a high-level meeting held in New Delhi.
During the meeting, he said the prices of vegetables, pulses, oilseeds and other foodgrain items are being closely monitored. Mr Chouhan also reviewed the release and utilisation of funds by States under Krishonnati Yojana and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. He directed officials to hold review meetings with States where fund utilisation is below expectations to ensure effective implementation.
Stressing outcome-based governance, the Minister asked officials to obtain direct feedback from farmers to assess the impact of various schemes. He also directed the Ministry to expedite the implementation of agriculture-related announcements made in the Union Budget 2026-27 in coordination with the States.
