Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Highlights Shipping Reforms at IMU Convocation

Union Minister for Shipping Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the government is working with the vision of reform, perform and transform to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He was addressing the 10th convocation of the Indian Maritime University at Uthandi near Chennai today.
 
 
The Minister asserted that India has become one of the top three suppliers of seafarers and personnel in the Shipping Industry. Highlighting the major reforms done in the shipping infrastructure in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, inland waterways have witnessed tremendous growth. He said the Badalam port is one of the largest ports built with an investment of 70 thousand crore rupees.
 
 
The Minister said, a strong impetus has been provided to the shipping Industry, which has signalled a golden era in the maritime sector. He said that the maritime corpus fund has been created with an investment of 20 thousand crore rupees for maritime financial needs.
