Ram Nath Thakur, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, informed Parliament today that as of December 31, 2025, 104,212 farmers in Kangra district are availing loans for agriculture and allied activities through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme. Furthermore, a total of ₹1,241 crore in loans has been disbursed through KCCs in Kangra district to date. He provided this information in Parliament in response to a question raised by Rajya Sabha MP Indu Bala Goswami. He stated that through the Kisan Credit Card scheme, interest subvention is being provided on short-term loans up to ₹3 lakh for the agricultural sector and up to ₹2 lakh for animal husbandry, dairy farming, and fisheries. Ram Nath Thakur further informed that the Reserve Bank of India has enhanced the limit for collateral-free loans for Kisan Credit Card holders from ₹1.6 lakh to ₹2 lakh, effective from January 1, 2025.
