Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Mr Piyush Goyal, today said that no stone will remain unturned to ensure a fair, equitable, and balanced India-EU Free Trade Agreement. He said this while addressing the India-Italy Business Forum plenary session in Mumbai alongside Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Mr Antonio Tajani.
Reiterating India’s commitment to deepening economic and industrial partnership with Italy, Mr Goyal said the aim is to expand trade, boost investments, and elevate business collaboration. He added that India’s partnership with Italy will play a pivotal role in unlocking new opportunities and driving the shared development goals of both countries.
Addressing a press conference post the summit, Mr Goyal said Indian businesses are keen to work together with Italy in areas like R&D, technology & innovation, sports, defence, space, textiles, agriculture, and food processing, among others.
Expressing his happiness over the collaboration between Italian brand Prada and India’s Kolhapuri chappal manufacturers, Mr Goyal said it will prove to be a great partnership for Indian craftsmen and artisans. He added that the aim is to take the export of Kolhapuri chappals to one billion dollars in the near future.
