Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal called on Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu at the conclusion of his three-day visit to the West Asian country on Sunday. In a social media post, Mr Goyal said, he updated Mr Netanyahu on his discussions with his Israeli counterpart Nir Barkat and the successful holding of Business Forum and CEOs Forum. Mr Goyal highlighted the signing of the ‘Terms of Reference’ to launch Free Trade Agreement negotiations, which will boost trade, investment and technology cooperation. During the meeting, Mr Goyal discussed strengthening the innovation partnership by combining Israel’s hi-tech strengths with India’s scale and talent. He said he took guidance from the Prime Minister of Israel on further deepening bilateral economic and strategic engagement across the sectors of agriculture, water, defence, science and technology and innovation.
The Commerce and Industry Minister also called on the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. Their discussions covered the full spectrum of India-Israel strategic partnership, including trade and investment, science and technology, innovation, and deeper economic engagement.
