Union Minister Piyush Goyal Calls Union Budget 2026-27 a Boost for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal today hailed the Union Budget 2026-27 as a strong foundation for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. Addressing a press conference to discuss budget 2026-27 with the media in Mumbai, Mr. Goyal described it as a blueprint built on economic growth, infrastructure expansion, and inclusive development for all citizens.

He further said that a major push on manufacturing, expanding exports, and creating an investor-friendly environment is a major task which government is working on. He said that 12.21 lakh crore rupees are allocated for infrastructure development, aimed at reducing logistics costs and boosting the economy. Focus on all citizens, including the poor, middle class, and youth he said the budget includes a 10,000 crore rupees growth fund for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Answering about setting up of large scale data centres in the country, Mr. Goyal said that the government is promoting data centers powered by renewable energy to boost foreign exchange earnings through service exports. He further highlighted that Maharashtra stands to benefit significantly from increased, with substantial investments planned for railways and port-linked infrastructure, including new chemical and textile parks. Goyal emphasized that the 2026-27 budget strengthens India’s position as the world’s fastest-growing economy.
