Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh said that the Union Government is doing everything to help Punjab return to normalcy after facing severe floods. Stating that Punjab has always been the backbone of India’s food security, he assured that the Centre stands firmly with the border state during this challenging time.
Emphasizing that there is no shortage of funds from the Centre to support flood relief and rehabilitation in the state, the Minister said as per official details Punjab govt is already having SDRF fund to the tune of 12, 589 Crores rupees. He said 805 crore rupees was also released to the state immediately after the visit of the Prime Minister to flood affected areas when he announced 1600 crores rupees as initial relief package. Meanwhile, he distributed relief material at village Sarupwala, one of the worst affected villages of Sultapur Lodhi in Kapurthala district and interacted with the affected families.
