Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the New Delhi Railway Station today and inspected the newly constructed Yatri Suvidha Kendra. Talking to reporters, Mr Vaishnaw said the Yatri Suvidha Kendra has been built to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers and it will help reduce congestion around the station. He said, all ticketing counters located inside the Station have been shifted to this Kendra to facilitate passengers to buy tickets easily.
Automatic ticket vending machines, over 150 toilets and drinking water dispensers are among the facilities installed for the convenience of passengers. Mr Vaishnaw said, such a permanent holding area will also be constructed in 76 other Stations to cater to passenger rush during festivals. The Railway Minister also informed that a record number of special trains have been planned in view of the coming festivals of Diwali and Chhath Puja. He said, out of 12 thousand special trains, around 10 thousand 700 trains have been notified.
