Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityananda Rai today said that the country has developed advanced early warning systems for cyclones and lightning, which saved thousands of lives across the country. Addressing the 21st formation day of the National Disaster Management Authority in New Delhi, he pointed out that cyclones claimed thousands of lives earlier, but today, accurate forecasts and timely evacuations have reduced human casualties close to zero.
The Minister highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda for disaster risk reduction is guiding both India and global platforms for disaster management. Mr Rai said that the government is committed to building the nation as a safer and more disaster-resilient one.
