Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju addressed the Buddhist conference organised at Mundgod Tibetan camp in North Kanara district of Karnataka today. Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama graced the occasion.
In his speech, Mr Rijiju said that the path of nonviolence and compassion shown by the Dalai Lama derives importance as the world faces unrest and conflicts. Calling the Tibetan spiritual leader the repository of ancient Indian knowledge, the minister said, Dalai Lama is a bridge between ancient wisdom and the modern world.
He assured the Tibetan community in India of all necessary support from the Government. The member of Parliament from Uttara Kannada, Vishveshwarayya Hegde Kageri, described Dalai Lama as a great saint spreading the message of peace and harmony across the globe. He recalled that both India and Tibet share cultural and religious ties since ages. He thanked the Dalai Lama for spreading Indian spiritual thoughts across the world.
