On the third day of his visit to Bhutan, Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar undertook key engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation in infrastructure and development. The Ministry of Power informed that during his visit to Khuruthang, he reviewed local development initiatives and urban infrastructure planning. He also toured the historic Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s significant cultural and administrative landmarks. Later, he visited Simtokha Dzong, believed to be among the oldest forts in Bhutan, and participated in a traditional butter lamp lighting ceremony.

Mr Khattar held talks with Chandra Bahadur Gurung, Bhutan’s Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, urban development, connectivity and transport systems. He also attended a presentation on Bhutan’s development philosophy of Gross National Happiness and the Gelephu Mindfulness City initiative, which highlighted the country’s approach to sustainable and holistic growth.

In Thimphu, the Minister visited the Buddha Dordenma and Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park, reflecting Bhutan’s rich cultural and natural heritage. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora. The visit underscores the strong and friendly ties between India and Bhutan and aims to further deepen cooperation across key sectors and people-to-people relations.
