Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse said that the Ministry aims to prepare athletes for the global stage not merely through practice, but by adopting a scientific approach to nutrition, mental health, and sports physiology. She was speaking at the ‘Vartalap’ programme organised by the Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh in Pune.
Ms Khadse said that the use of sports science has now become essential to identify an athlete’s potential, enhance stamina, and prevent injuries. She noted that sports science goes beyond physical training and includes nutrition, physiotherapy, psychology, and sports medicine. The government is making efforts to ensure that this knowledge reaches athletes at the grassroots level, she added.
