Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, said that promoting micromobility through electric bicycles can strengthen rural livelihoods and empower women across the country. He said this while addressing the National Workshop on Promoting Micromobility through Electric Bicycles, organised by the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with Convergence Energy Services Limited under the STREE initiative.
Mr Paswan said several welfare schemes of the government have been designed with women at the centre. The Minister said the pilot project of providing electric bicycles to women Self-Help Group members will help them expand their livelihoods and access wider markets. He said around 800 women beneficiaries are being provided with e-bicycles under the initiative.
During the event, the Minister also launched the Impact Assessment Report of the initiative and also launched a mascot aimed at promoting awareness about sustainable micro mobility and women-led rural entrepreneurship.
