Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh has said, achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires the participation of every citizen and a strong partnership between the government and the people. He was addressing the media today at a press meet on the Viksit Bharat Budget 2026-27, organised by Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP in Vijayawada.
The Union Minister said, India has moved from being a nation seeking global support to one that the world now looks towards. He said the government is focused on building a self-reliant India by promoting indigenous technology, research and innovation.
Speaking on science and space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said India aims to send an Indian astronaut to the Moon by 2040, describing it as a milestone for national pride and scientific strength. He also highlighted the development of the country’s first indigenous antibiotic drug, saying it reflects India’s growing research capacity and will help in treating severe respiratory illnesses.
On national security, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally oversees key defence matters and provides decisive leadership. He added that the introduction of technology in governance has improved transparency and speed in public service delivery, with Digital India playing a major role.
The Union Minister said India is becoming self-reliant in sectors such as medical research, biotechnology and space science, enhancing its global stature. He noted that the government is giving special focus to the northeastern states, leading to significant improvements in infrastructure, education and healthcare.
He stressed that responsible and ethical conduct by government employees is essential for national progress. He also said the central government accords high priority to women, noting that women’s leadership is key to development.
