Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Jayant Chaudhary today said that skilling should not be done merely for the sake of skilling but must offer a strong value proposition for both students and employers.
Addressing the NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education and Training) Capacity Building and Awareness Workshop for Awarding Bodies in New Delhi, he said Skill India is a collective national effort where collaboration is key, dynamism is the result, and employability and entrepreneurship are the ultimate goals.
Highlighting a key challenge, Mr Chaudhary said most young people in India follow a fixed academic route, often opting for higher education, while vocational training is considered only a last resort. He stressed the need to change this perception by building confidence in skill-based education.
