Minister of State for Road, Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, has described the Union Budget 2026-27 as trust-based, citizen-centric and progressive. Briefing the media in New Delhi today, the Minister said that the size of the budget has increased to 53 lakh crore rupees this year, as compared to 18 lakh crore rupees in 2014-15. He highlighted that government initiatives have helped to reduce Non-Performing Assets significantly, from 14% before 2014 to 2% now. Mr Malhotra said that Foreign Direct Investment has shown an upward trajectory in recent years, as part of government measures to promote Ease of Doing Business.
