Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal congratulated the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority for facilitating the flag-off of the first GI-tagged Salem sago consignment from Tamil Nadu to Canada. In a social media post, Mr Goyal said that the export will unlock significant opportunities for a larger number of farmers, including tribal communities engaged in tapioca sago cultivation, by enhancing incomes and enabling greater access to global markets, while further strengthening the country’s agri exports. The Minister called this a step in taking India’s GI-tagged agri products to global markets.
