Union Minister Dr Virendra Kumar says govt will establish Drug Rehabilitation Centres (Nasha Mukti Kendras) across the country

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar has said that the government will establish Drug Rehabilitation Centres (Nasha Mukti Kendras) across all districts of the country, focusing on rehabilitation and treatment.

Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha today, Dr Kumar said that drug addiction is a serious social menace that is weakening families and disrupting the fabric of society.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the launch of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan from the ramparts of the Red Fort in 2020.

The Minister said that 768 Drug de-addiction and rehabilitation Centres are functioning across the country to provide in-patient treatment to drug users along with counselling.

Dr Kumar said, these centres play a crucial role in providing treatment, rehabilitation, and counselling services while also supporting outreach efforts to create awareness at the community level.
