Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh urges Indian diaspora scientists to contribute from abroad

Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has said that with the growth of digital collaboration tools, Indian diaspora scientists have the option to contribute and work for the country, even while staying in another country. Dr Singh said this while addressing a round-table during the three-day Emerging Science, Technology, Innovation Conclave in New Delhi today. He called for transforming the country’s engagement with its scientific diaspora from the era of brain drain to a model of reverse brain drain.

He said, it is easy to start a startup, but sustaining it requires robust industry partnerships. He added that the strength of science lies in its ability to connect beyond borders. Appealing to diaspora scientists to act as ambassadors of India’s scientific renaissance, he said, this will help to move towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Dr Singh also interacted with Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Fellows from across the world.
