Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh launches the BIRAC-Research, Development and Innovation Fund for biotechnology and related areas in New Delhi.
The fund is aimed at fostering deep tech innovations and indigenous manufacturing for National impact.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh highlighted that over the past ten years, the bioeconomy has grown significantly from eight billion dollars in 2014.
He added that the launch reflects a shift in the government’s approach under Prime Minister Modi, showing that India is ready to play a global role. The Minister highlighted that the number of startups have increased to nearly 11 thousand today.
