Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that the Government had prioritised an ecosystem for startups in the field of Science and Technology. In his keynote address at the two-day RISE Conclave in Chennai today, he said that it was important for every youth and citizen of the Country to understand and utilise the welfare schemes and be a part of nation-building.
Listing out the various initiatives taken by the Government for Tamil Nadu, he said that 30 crore youngsters have availed benefits through the MUDRA scheme and notably 67 per cent were women. He said that more than 30 percent market linkage have also been provided to the beneficiaries of the scheme. He said that patent filing of resident Indians ranked sixth and more than two lakh people have patented their innovations.
The Minister told that CSIR provided a platform to the students and the innovators. He asserted that they could be provided technical assistance and also serve as a business incubators. He said that it was the first time that India was able to come out with research which would benefit the haemophilia issue.
He said that projects like Chandrayaan, gene therapy was possible since there was availability of labs in the State of Tamilnadu. In today’s conclave, CSIR signed several MoUs with many universities and educational institutions.
