Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Highlights Compassion, Innovation, and Technology for Senior Citizens

Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said that India’s care economy is entering a new era, driven by compassion, innovation, and technology to support the country’s ageing population. The Minister made this remark while addressing the inaugural session of the CII Senior Care Conclave in New Delhi.
Dr. Singh said while India takes pride in being a young nation, the growing number of senior citizens presents both a challenge and an opportunity. He emphasized that senior citizens must be viewed as an active and knowledgeable section of society whose experience can contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Highlighting government reforms under the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Dr Singh said technology-driven initiatives such as Face Authentication for life certificates and simplified pension systems have enhanced ease of living for the elderly.
The Minister further called for greater collaboration between government, industry, and civil society to build an inclusive senior care ecosystem. He said blending youth energy with the wisdom of the elderly will help the country in shaping a compassionate and sustainable care economy.
