A consensus on seat distribution within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to be reached today. BJP’s election in-charge and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will hold separate meetings in Patna with various alliance partners. After these deliberations, the seat-sharing announcement is expected to be announced in 2 to 3 days.
The BJP has been tasked with finalising the seat-sharing arrangement with its allies – Hindustani Awam Morcha led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Rashtriya Lok Morcha led by Upendra Kushwaha, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). After the distribution of seats among the NDA partners, the BJP and JD(U) are likely to finalise the number of contested seats.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav held discussions last night with Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) president Mukesh Sahani to end the deadlock. Within the opposition Grand Alliance, the issue of finalising ticket claims for the Left parties and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party still remains unresolved.
National General Secretaries of CPI and CPM are also in Patna to resolve the seat-sharing issue. Today, senior Congress leaders and RJD president Lalu Prasad are also expected to hold talks to find a solution to the seat-sharing arrangements.
