Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually flags off new Passenger Train Services between Mizoram & Assam

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today virtually flagged off new Passenger Train Services between Sairang in Mizoram and Silchar in Assam from New Delhi. Addressing the event, Mr Vaishnaw said that Silchar is a very important centre in the northeastern region.
 
He said that this service will greatly benefit passengers as Silchar will be connected to Sairang in Mizoram. Talking to the Media after the event, the Railways Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a railway budget of more than 11 thousand crore rupees has been allocated for the North Eastern region.
 
He said that projects worth 72 thousand crore rupees are currently underway in the region. He said that one thousand 900 kilometers of new railway tracks have been laid in the northeastern states in the last 11 years, which is more than the entire railway network of Sri Lanka. The Minister also inaugurated the New Passenger Facilities at Guwahati Railway Station, Assam, improving the overall travel experience for passengers.
