Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Says Odisha Entering New Phase of Industrial and Technological Growth

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw today said Odisha is entering a new phase of industrial and technological growth, backed by strong policy support and rising investments. Mr Vaishnaw was speaking after laying the foundation stone for India’s first advanced 3D glass substrate packaging facility at Info Valley in Bhubaneswar. The facility, to be set up by 3D Glass Solutions, will manufacture cutting-edge glass substrate technologies, a first of its kind in the country. The Minister said such advanced packaging will play a key role in the future of semiconductors, especially in areas like artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.

Mr Vaishnaw also praised the Odisha government for creating a favourable environment for electronics manufacturing and employment generation. The project, to be set up with an investment of around two thousand crore rupees, is expected to create about 2,500 jobs.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present on the occasion. Speaking at the event, Mr Majhi described the initiative as a major milestone in Odisha’s journey to becoming a semiconductor hub and invited global investors to explore opportunities in the state.

Mr Vaishnaw also visited the Bhubaneswar Railway Station and reviewed the ongoing redevelopment work, which is progressing at a fast pace.

He inspected various components of the project, interacted with officials, and took feedback from passengers on existing services. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the redevelopment of the station will provide world-class facilities to passengers for decades to come. Mr Vaishnaw said more than 1,300 railway stations across the country are being redeveloped, with Bhubaneswar playing a key role in this transformation.

The station is being upgraded into a modern transit hub with features such as elevated driveways on both sides, expanded foot overbridges, improved platform shelters, and elevated waiting areas.

An airport-like air concourse is also being developed to provide seamless connectivity across all six platforms and enhance passenger convenience. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project and said passengers have responded positively to the ongoing improvements.
