Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurates several key railway projects in West Bengal via video conferencing

Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated and dedicated several key railway projects in West Bengal via video conferencing yesterday.

The Minister inaugurated the Suri Road Over Bridge (ROB), dedicated the Kumarpur ROB in Asansol to the nation, and flagged off the new Asansol-Bokaro train service. High-profile ceremonies were organised at Asansol Railway Station and Kumarpur, with Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari and senior railway officials in attendance.

The Suri ROB is expected to eliminate transit delays for local residents, students, and workers. Similarly, Kumarpur ROB served as a critical link between central Asansol, West Burdwan, and Jharkhand, promising smoother trade and reduced congestion in the industrial belt.

Additionally, the new Asansol-Bokaro Steel City train service marks a significant boost for regional connectivity. Linking two major industrial hubs under SAIL, the train would traverse West Burdwan, Purulia, and Bokaro districts. This service is designed to benefit thousands of industrial workers and daily commuters, fostering economic growth and strengthening interstate ties between West Bengal and Jharkhand.
