Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has hailed the government’s decision to reduce Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates. Addressing the media in Sohna, Gurugram today, the Minister described the move as a landmark step that will ease the financial burden on middle-class and low-income families.
Calling it “a matter of great joy for all,” Mr Vaishnaw said, the reform reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to ensuring that every family in the country benefits from lower day-to-day costs. He noted that the reduced GST rates will apply to essential food items, household goods, educational materials for students, consumer electronics, as well as small cars and scooters, all of which will become cheaper from the first day of Navratri.
