Union Minister for Railways and Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, today chaired a high-level review meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar to assess the progress of the state’s major semiconductor and display fabrication projects. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi, Senior government officials and representatives from key companies like Tata, Micron, and CG Semicon participated in the meeting.
The meeting focused on the availability of essential resources, including power, water, and logistics for the large-scale projects being implemented in Dholera and Sanand. The Chief Minister emphasized the historical significance of these projects and issued urgent directives for all state departments to coordinate effectively to ensure time-bound completion.
Union Minister Vaishnaw emphasised that the timely rollout of India’s first fully functional semiconductor chip is a shared responsibility between the Central and State governments. He confirmed that both governments are available 24/7 to support industry partners. He said, the review of around ten critical projects aimed to ensure that Gujarat takes the lead in establishing India as a global Semicon Hub.
After the meeting, the Minister visited the High Speed Railway Station site in Ahmedabad and also reviewed the work progress of Ahmedabad railway station. Talking to media, the Minister said, the station for the high-speed rail, the Bullet Train, is nearly ready. And both the Bullet Train station and the Ahmedabad station will be completely integrated. He said with the addition of three new platforms, the capacity of Ahmedabad Railway Station will also increase.
