Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal visited Goa today to review the power sector in the state. He praised the work being done by Goa government in the power sector and applauded the state for having comparatively lower Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses compared to rest of the country and promised to look into DISCOM losses if any. He expressed satisfaction over every home in Goa getting 24X7 power supply.
The Union Minister also informed that the Goa government has sent a proposal of 652 crores for supplying water to every home and he promised to look into that. He further said that Smart metering is the only issue which requires more efforts from the state govt. He promised support to 3 STP plants namely Murgao, Sanquelim and Honda.
Minister also talked about plans to study the feasibility of a nuclear power plant in Goa if the proposal comes from the state government.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and other dignitaries were present for the review.
