Union Minister Anupriya Patel addresses 2nd Convocation of AIIMS Mangalagiri

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel has said that the Union government has introduced several schemes to safeguard the health needs of the poor people in the country. The Minister explained that the government has brought the world’s largest health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat.
 
Speaking at the second convocation ceremony of AIIMS Mangalagiri in Guntur district today, she said the Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving utmost priority to the medical sector.  She reminded that the recent budget has allocated an unprecedentedly large amount of funds to the medical sector. Ms Anupriya Patel asked medical students who are completing their studies to enter the medical field with a service motto and humanity. The convocation ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, who was the guest of honour.
 
Earlier, AIIMS-Mangalagiri Executive Director Ahanthem Singh said that degrees are being conferred on 49 MBBS graduates, five MD/MS postgraduate students and four Post-Doctoral Certificate Course students. The MBBS course, which began in 2018 with an intake of 50 students initially, today has 748 students with an annual intake of 125 students.  The hospital has completed 31 lakh OPD consultations, and the current footfall at the hospital has been around 3,500-4,000 per day.
