Union Minister Amit Shah expresses satisfaction with first phase of polling in West Bengal

Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed satisfaction with the first phase of polling in West Bengal. Addressing rallies in Balagarh and Pursurah in Hooghly district, Shri Shah said the high voter turnout in just a few hours proves that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government is on the verge of collapse. He claimed that ruling party-backed miscreants failed to prevent people from casting their votes.

Shah urged voters to come out fearlessly again on 29th April, warning that anyone who intimidates voters will face action once a BJP government is formed. Turning to local issues, Sri Shah highlighted the plight of potato farmers in Pursurah. He criticized the state government’s ban on potato exports to Jharkhand and Bihar, saying farmers are not getting fair prices. He also pointed out that the absence of seed production facilities is forcing farmers to buy seeds at high rates from other states. Shah promised that if the BJP comes to power, a seed production centre will be set up in Hooghly, cutting seed prices in half and benefiting farmers.
