The rate of Tuberculosis (TB) cases in India has shown a decline of 21 per cent, to 187 per lakh population in 2024 from 237 per lakh population in 2015.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda stated this while replying to a question in Lok Sabha today. He said, as per the World Health Organisation’s Global TB Report 2025, the TB mortality rate reduced by 25 per cent during this period.
Mr Nadda said the TB treatment coverage in India has increased from 53 per cent in 2015 to 92 per cent in 2024. The Minister informed that TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is implemented under the aegis of the National Health Mission in all the States of the country.
Mr Nadda said, under the Abhiyan, 26.43 lakh TB cases were diagnosed through screening of vulnerable populations this year, including 9.19 lakh asymptomatic TB cases and were covered under treatment.
