The Government has released over 127 crore rupees under the 15th Finance Commission Grants to strengthen Rural Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions in Tamil Nadu for the financial year 2025-26. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj said that this is the second installment of untied grants for 9 District Panchayats, 74 Block Panchayats and 2,901 Gram Panchayats in the state. Untied Grants will be utilized by Rural Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions for location-specific felt needs, under the Twenty-Nine subjects enshrined in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, except for salaries and other establishment costs.
