Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy today said there is no scam under investigation in Coal India limited or with the Coal Ministry. Replying to Suplimentaries in the Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour, he ruled out any scam to the tune of 6000 crore rupees under investigation. He also said the Ministry has no role in the duty related issues of the Power Generation companies and Coal importing agencies.

Mr Reddy also said the coal mining will be initiated at any mine only after obtaining approvals from the concerned state government, environment and forest departments. The Minister added that cutting of trees for mining will be facilitated only after making provisions to double the number of trees.
