UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss US military action in Venezuela

The UN Security Council has announced that it will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss the US operation in Venezuela.

The meeting has been convened at the request of Colombia, a non-permanent member of the Council, and was supported by permanent members China and Russia.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has said that the Venezuelan president and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been indicted in the Southern District of New York. The pair who arrived in New York yesterday have been charged with conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism and import cocaine, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices against the US.

According to US media reports, the booking process for the couple has already begun. The couple will also have had to undergo medical checks ahead of their transportation to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s office in New York City, where they will be booked again. Maduro and his wife will then be put on trial, which could happen as soon as tomorrow.
