UN Resident Shombi Sharp Praises India’s Global Leadership

United Nations Resident Coordinator in India, Shombi Sharp, praised India’s growing influence on the global stage, commending its pivotal role in geopolitics, development, and peacekeeping. He highlighted India’s commitment to the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the world is one family, describing it as essential in addressing today’s global challenges. Sharp made these remarks on the sidelines of the National Summit on Accessibility in New Delhi. He noted that India is a country that not only lands on the moon but is also developing innovative ways to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty, efforts that are highly relevant to the developing nations of the Global South.

Speaking on India’s contribution to global peacekeeping, Sharp emphasized that India has been the largest contributor of troops, both armed and civilian personnel, to UN peacekeeping missions since their inception.
